Teaching

My experience as a Writing in the Disciplines teaching assistant requires intensive one-on-one work with students to develop their writing skills for social science applications.

I believe teaching writing for political science begins before students receive an assignment. Educating students about how to find and assess sources and how to read and take notes from those sources provides the foundation for well-researched and well-argued writing.

I build on these skills by asking students to think about the genres, author perspectives, and time periods of the sources as they read. In class, we discuss how they can adopt relevant stylistic features to strengthen their writing for specific assignments.

Examples of some of my past teaching materials are provided below. Syllabi for courses I can teach right now are provided as well. Please cite me if you use my resources!
